The Iron Springs is the official watering hole of the Raw Energy and Raw Heaven crews. After a number of demonstrations, discussions and hang out sessions, Mike Altman the owner of the Iron Springs Pub and Brewery commissioned Raw Energy to find and convert a delivery vehicle that would also double as a promotional vehicle. Jason Pavao and Jeffrey Kroop immediately set out and began searching for a vehicle.

“In the beginning I imagined a diesel Mercedes wagon or a diesel Ford or Dodge truck with a camper shelf would be the best option, but ideally I wanted to find a white diesel E350 van, but those are hard to find. When I found the ambulance on craigslist I knew that this was going to be it!” –Jason Pavao December 2006

Jason and Jeff headed up and picked up the ambulance and began drawing up plans and ordering the parts necessary for the Raw Energy straight veggie oil (SVO) conversion.

In the meantime the entire Iron Springs staff and customer base came up with names, ideas and logos designs that would go on what was now called the “ambrewlance”. The ambrewlance was painted, the logos were printed onto vinyl and applied and finally Jeff and I got our hands on the ambrewlance to convert.

We decided to engineer the most reliable, robust system our imaginations could come up with. Since all Raw Energy conversions already employ industrial components and are made to be reliable in even the harshest environments, we had a great base to build up from. We decided that we wanted the filter to be incredibly accessible (unlike the stock fuel filter) and that we wanted to have a higher fuel delivery rate and available fuel psi to the injector pump than what the stock fuel pump can deliver.

YOU NEED HEAT! When running a diesel engine on veggie oil it's all about heat. The ambrewlance doesn't just have 1, but 2 full size heat exchangers! HOT!
