Our SVO Systems and Philosophy We here at Raw Energy have a philosophy when it comes to taking a diesel engine that was built to work with a ASTM spec fuel and convert it to working with vegetable oil- #1 Heat!!!!!!!!!!!! It's gotta be hot, like 180degrees hot, or even hotter! Vegetable oil is much is much more viscous than ASTM diesel fuels. In order to bring this viscosity down to within an acceptable range our SVO fuel system utilize waste heat coolant heat exchangers, 12volt heating elements and insulation to minimize heat loss. #2 That the oil is filtered to at least 5-10 micron! Minimum! And that the filter has water blocking technology! If it aint clean you aint going no where! Our SVO fuel system uses only the highest quality filters available. These filters are usually LARGE in order to provide as much surface area as possible. More surface area = better svo system! When possible start and stop on an ASTM spec Fuel. In other words use a 2 tank system! Starting on a known ASTM spec fuel to bring the engine up to operating temperature before switching to veggie oil is a much better if not the best way to go. There are a lot of installers out there *we won't mention them* that are simply putting heaters on the fuel system, installing a larger filter and putting veggie oil right into the stock fuel tank. This usually spells disaster for the life of the engine! Think about it- it's a cold morning, you have really viscous oil in your injectors, injector pump, fuel pump, fuel lines. Your start your engine. It runs like shit. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm…? Let's think about it…. Your forcing a fuel system that was designed and engineered to run on ASTM diesel fuel to push, pump, inject, spray, combust a fuel that is way out of spec and viscous! All diesel fuel systems (except for the diesel's that Rudolf Diesel first built weren't designed or engineered to work with a fluid of that viscosity! It's crazy!!!! Want to become a greaser?!
